Cibo had more emotion in the Manga and Killy would at least crack a smile from time to time lolGenerally I enjoyed the movie and I like that it will introduce a lot more people to Nihei, and Blame! But with the time constraints of a movie, that was just not possible. A_ To learn more about the world before the netsphere fell you should read Noise, which is the prequel to Blame!.

The villagers are unlikeable and seem like generic anime characters whose actions and emotions are very ordinary and predictable.

what happens to killy? It is always trying to tend to the viewer and make it easy for them through very uninspired and repetitive dialogues. The music and animation were great. Just watched it. My criticisms would include.

in particular which to this day I consider Nihei's greatest and underappreciated work.As much as the movie ignored the greater part of the setting, I enjoyed seeing things from the perspective of the Fishers.

Killy looked perfect but his lines and delivery were pretty questionable.

... Film Review: ‘Blame’ - Quinn Shephard stars in, and directs, a sketchy but lively high-school drama that dares to place the audience on the side of a taboo romance.

The fights were awesome and it was so cool to see the gravitational beam emitter animated.

Killy's design was good but his character is off, his facial expressions aren't what they are in the manga. brand candied clams, etc. The SOUND effects for it couldn't be more right.I think the villagers are what makes the story relatable to general audience. blame movie ending explained reddit

Honestly, as much as I'd love to see a more expanded adaptation of the series, I feel the movie's approach to the story was a good execution of a difficult solution. The parts I really loved were super-subtle, but essential to the Blame experience. Not an easy task, by any stretch of the imagination. The exposition was pretty blatant... but, honestly, that's not a bad thing. To describe it best I would use the words "watered down".
